Papakea is located 10 minutes away from the historic town of Lahaina, center of the island's whaling industry from 1840 to 1865. Today, the town is a center for pineapple and sugarcane production. Papakea is located approximately thirty miles from the Kahului Airport on the west coast of Maui. There are a total of 364 units at this large, garden-style complex. Off-site, but nearby, there is golf, live entertainment, shopping, restaurants, and many tourist activities. Although this is a waterfront location, there is not any beach area.
