IS anyone aware of any T&C's about purchasing a westin time share on the open market and by doing it this way the ability to use, exchange points with the westin hotels is not allow?

I did a westin pitch today and was considering buying my friends for 50% of the value but i was told by the Westin rep of the above condition about limited use?

Any thoughts?
