Question Buying timeshares from eBay - A doubt

Folks,
Just wanted to clarify an issue with buying timeshares from eBay. I was told that I should only go for the deal if the seller has a Square Travel Certification, which confirms the ownership of the timeshare. Is it true? I see/hear so many people getting ripped off while buying timeshares from eBay. So, I just want to be as careful as I can.

Default Ebay and Time shares

If you do some research you'll find lots of people posting about problems with selling time shares on E-Bay. They have many rules and few happy time share owners who have sold a time share. If a time share owner did sell then it was for the bottom dollar auction price. Not sure about Square Travel but Im sure it's just another way they get a piece of your money.

Buy from a company like this one that has an in house lawyer who makes sure your purchase goes smoothly with the seller and the time share resort your purchasing from. You'll pay no closing cost or commissions if you purchase your time share from an owner at Timeshare Adventures. Very Nice!

Cool

You can check the transaction history of the seller and see if he has gotten a lot of negative feedback from his previous transactions. If he has, it is safe to stay away from him. If he mostly has positive feedback from a number of buyers, you can be sure of his credibility.

Similarly, the Square Travel Certification you mentioned is also an indicator of his ownership.

The most important thing you should check out is if the seller has paid all the necessary fees on his timeshare or not. A lot of times, people buy timeshares through eBay and then find out that the seller hasn't paid the maintenance fee properly. So, you need to verify that as well.

At the end of the day, you need to be really, really careful about buying/selling timeshares through eBay. You need to spend a lot of time to make sure nothing goes wrong. That, in my opinion, is not worth it. So, I'd suggest buying from a good timeshare company. The choice of course is yours.

I second this completely. I personally know a lot of people who got ripped off by scammers in eBay. Moreover, the deals are usually made at rock bottom prices and it's definitely not worth it. Take your time, do some research, find out the best timeshare company, and do business with them. You will find it a lot more easy to buy/sell timeshares.
