That's what they're saying in St. Maarten, because that's when their visitors flee the cold to the Caribbean. The Daily Herald Newspaper had this to say about their 2 country island paradise:
"...the generally friendly people are what make many visitors return year after year.
The latter plays a major factor: Because stay-over tourism on especially the Dutch side is dominated by time-share and vacation homes, there appears to be a stronger sense of loyalty than in more traditional hotel-dominated markets. In other words, people who own something, whether it be a timeshare week or a condo, tend to come regularly and often consider their stay on the island their “home away from home” time that they are less likely to give up, as experienced with the relatively quick recovery following major hurricane hits and 9-11 has shown."
