hi, can I use this site to trade my week for someones timeshare in Hawaii? I am with RCI, but they tell me it's a very long "waiting list" to get to a Hawaii timeshare thru RCI and this is frustrating because this is not how we were told it would work we got the timeshare. I am new to this timeshare and RCI so advice is welcomed
Hi Bill....RCI usally takes way to long to get you anything and it may not be as nice a time share resort as you hoped for. I would suggest renting a time share from an owner. You can negoitiate a great price and get the exact resort and unit type you want without jumping thru RCI's hoops. Good exchanges are few and far between.
Avoid the RCI hassle - Rent a timeshare & rent-out yours
Hi Bill & welcome back parker. RCI works well for some, but there are many timeshare owners that experience the same exchange frustrations you have, especially with an attempt to acquire Hawaii timeshare exchange.
I think parker explained it quite well. We have many timeshare owners who opt to put their timeshare week or unit up 'For Rent' and then SEARCH our advertised timeshare rentals to obtain the vacation accommodations they want without using an exchange company. The rental proceeds you can potentially earn when renting out your timeshare can offset the rental fee paid to another timeshare owner for the rental of their timeshare in the area you are seeking.

I thought we had RCI timeshare with points to travel and stuff but now I see we own at the resort we went to. The timeshare sale person at the resort in orlando explained this point timeshare that lets us go anywhere and now the paperwork has a week in Florida? I thought we bought the point package and we have the RCI book and like 75,000 points, but I now dont know...help! If someone knows about this arrangement please explain- Thanks A.
I got the same thing and I was in Orlando too. Time share language and understanding took some time to get accustom to, but I figured it out- I think(LOL). Here is how the timeshare works with the rci points or at least how I got it figured-- We own a week at the time share resort every year and this week and unit are worth or a number of rci points. We can use the week we own at the Orlando resort or contact rci to give them our week or use the rci points we get with the timeshare. God, now I'm confused-- I kid but, may be a better explanation can come from a timeshare owner?
Not a bad explanation, 34peace. Here's some good information I've discovered that was prepared by RCI, so it paints a pretty picture of their program and defines how the RCI points can be used in conjunction with the deeded timeshare, etc.
Quote:
Use Your Week and your Unit—you don’t lose your deeded ownership.
Use Points. When you turn your time into points, think of those points as currency. You can spend the points any way you choose to vacation: a day or two or three at a time; Vacation anytime of year regardless of the season you own; Use any size unit; Increase your time above and beyond one week; use points for cruises, airfare, rental cars, hotels and more.
and...
Quote:
1. USE POINTS AT OVER 4000+ RESORTS.
2. USE POINTS BY THE DAY OR BY THE WEEK.
3. USE POINTS FOR AIRFARE, CRUISES, HOTELS, RENTAL CARS & MORE.
4. SAVE POINTS or Borrow Points.
5. RENT EXTRA POINTS
Hope this helps. I'll post more info as I discover it!

yes, we timeshare buyers or owners want flexibility. not the promise of flexibility, but vacation ownership that lives up to the saleman's pitch and the contact! I recommend to buy a timeshare with multiple locations. we like fairfield aka Wyndham because it comes with points every year that we redeem to use any of the resort they have. it's works with RCI, but we do not trade the timeshare to them. we vacation direct thru fairfield\wyndham.
used to own old-fashioned certain week timeshare unit in panama city, florida. not flexible and trading was a head ache. timeshares have become much better since then.
