Can timeshare owners actually make exchanges without belonging to one of those exchange companies? One owner sets it up with another and just make the trade on their own? I read about a rental company encouraging their customers to contact owners with timeshares to rent and see if they would be interested in a trade. If I found an owner with a rental here on your site, could I contact them and see if they would be interested in a trade? Are owners already doing this?

This type of person-to-person trade/exchange has been largely unsuccessful from what I've heard because it was incredibly difficult to find a timeshares owners that each have something the other wants, so we recommend offing yours For Rent and renting one that appeals to you if RCI/II does not work for you with their exchange program.
